We're engaged!

After traveling through South America with her family, Lily found herself even more drawn to languages, new places, and the kind of experiences that make a place feel alive. She had already spent time in Poland and Seville, so taking a chance on Spain felt less like a leap and more like following a thread she already loved.

She became a teaching assistant in Madrid, and during the final month of that academic year, we met. By the end of it, we had completely fallen for each other. When Lily returned to the US, we decided to keep dating across the distance. Carlos visited her that same summer, and the following year Lily taught in the Canary Islands while Carlos commuted from Madrid whenever he could.

Lily later moved to Boise, Idaho, while Carlos continued his airline transport pilot training in Europe. After a year apart, Lily decided to move back to Spain, this time to Madrid. Sorry Kevin and Caroline!

For more than a year, Lily has been building her career in education and study abroad programs in Madrid, where she has become very successful in her field. Carlos joined a software company alongside his aviation training, and as his pilot license work has settled, he has been able to give more time and energy to that role.

This became our new normal, driving from house to house to enjoy dinners together, watch movies, and make plans with friends. From today, from you reading this, a new normal begins for us, becoming partners and best friends for life.

We know it is a wedding that will not be normal, but we would love it if you could make it. If not, no worries. We will make sure to visit wherever you are and make plans before or after.
